Divya Kala Shakti: Witnessing Ability in Disability
A stage where the talent of persons with disabilities takes the spotlight.
On 12 March 2020, SMART Foundation was part of Divya Kala Shakti: Witnessing Ability in Disability at Kalaivanar Arangam, Chennai. The event was organised with the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (NIEPMD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
Divya Kala Shakti is a cultural showcase that celebrates the artistic talent of persons with disabilities through music, dance and performance. The Chennai edition reached more than 500 people.
Events like this shift the conversation from limitation to ability, and give performers with disabilities the platform and recognition they deserve.
