Yaavarum Kelir: Mental Health Awareness Walkathon
Every step a step towards empathy and mental well-being.
A morning of purpose, participation, and solidarity marked SMART Foundation's Mental Health Awareness Walkathon, organised in collaboration with United Way Chennai (UWC 23-24).
Mental well-being is essential to building healthier, more inclusive communities. To promote awareness and encourage open conversations around mental health, SMART Foundation organised a Mental Health Awareness Walkathon at Elliot's Beach in collaboration with United Way Chennai (UWC 23-24).
The event brought together over 200 persons with disabilities, college students, rehabilitation professionals, volunteers, and community members in a collective effort to advocate for mental well-being. We were honoured by the presence of Justice K. N. Basha, Retired Judge, Madras High Court, who delivered an insightful address on the importance of mental health awareness. Participants were also provided with event T-shirts, caps, and refreshments, fostering a spirit of unity and participation.
Through initiatives like these, SMART Foundation continues to promote awareness, reduce stigma, and strengthen community engagement towards creating a society where mental well-being is valued and supported.
Every step taken today is a step towards building communities that value empathy, understanding, and mental well-being.
